Open Source Outreach Program Well a few days back I saw a post by my friend who's financial stat's were not good and she even had to drop the idea of going to school due to financial constraints. This article is specially for those Ladies who seriously want to earn some money while sitting remotely at home. This open source program is an collaborative project where in one can collaborate remotely from home with the the software community. |
The program is a 4 month project, current one running (June 17th till September 23rd)

FOSS wants you to use your skills in programming , design , documentation and marketing, while working with a mentor. At FOSS you will be provided free software licenses of the software's so that you have the freedom to use, copy, study, change, and improve it . FOSS contributors do various things: software development, system administration, user interface design, graphic design, documentation, community management, marketing, identifying issues and reporting bugs, helping users, event organization, and translations. The program has 3 stages of Gnome working and 3 stages of working with the softs.
- Outreach Program for Women is welcome to apply, provided she is available for a full-time internship during this time period.
- The internships offered are not limited to coding, but include user experience design, graphic design, documentation, web development, marketing, translation and other types of tasks needed to sustain a FOSS project.
- participants must be able to spend 40 hours a week on their project. Participants will work remotely from home. Because IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is one of the primary means of communication within FOSS projects, participants should be present on their project's IRC channel while working.
The Payments will be broken down into three installments of $500 given at the starting of the program, $2250 given in the middle of the session and $2250 after the finishing of the program by Gnome society.

These internships are held every year but once participated can't participate again in the coming sessions of FOSS.
